The Search for Truth
Forensics, Law Enforcement
Locating clandestine
burials of human remains has long challenged law-enforcement
officials
investigating criminal activity. Forensic specialists and law enforcement
agencies
have noted that multidisciplinary search efforts are becoming more
of a necessity in
searching for buried remains.
The successful application
of noninvasive geophysical methods in the search for clandestine
graves has
proved to be a valuable tool for forensic investigators. In forensic
situations,
geophysical methods are commonly employed to search for
clandestine graves and other
physical evidence such as weapons. At the same
time, geophysical methods are also
invaluable search tools that can be
utilized to clear a suspected location so investigations
can be directed
elsewhere. New England Geophysical is available to and works
closely with
Law Enforcement.
